Bridal market may have come and gone, but Sarantina's stunning silhouettes will soon hit shops {this January, to be exact} and ladies, are you in for a treat. We often suggest the Sarantina collection to the New York bride who wants to add a bit of drama to her big day. The line is always inventive, with wonderfully feminine accents like big bows, silk organza rosettes and empire waistlines with voluminous skirts... I had the pleasure of viewing the Sarantina runway presentation at Market... The mood, the music, the gowns {the ruffles, the ice blue accents}... it's all so utterly delectable. I suppose I can't sit here swooning unless I let you in on a little action.
Take your front row seat to "The Softer Side of New York" runway show above and let me know what you think... I have to say, I'm pretty gaga over the first dress on top, {I love the pairing of an asymmetrical neckline and textured skirt}! And if you saw my style trend picks on Fashionable Bride this week, then you already know how much j'adore jeweled-tone wedding shoes!

Title: treni merci e treni in velocità a mignanego - linea dei giovi - freight trains at mignanego FULLHD
ITALIANO - ENGLISH IS BELOW
buona visione
ENGLISH
a short video shot on 13 \ 3 \ 2010 Mignanego station, located on the GIOVI LINEAND open to the public although there stop only 3 trains per day (none on Saturday).
transits are not exactly the best, but that was a bit unfortunate day and I filmed a few freight trains, despite what the video seems pretty good given the fluidity came convoy just before the tunnel ronco are perched at the pass the line, giving evidence here their power, especially with regard to heavy coils trains.
The particularity of this station is unpersonified at 100% (no one makes a nuisance !!!!) and above this you can easily shoot trains transiting in both giovi's lines
this video is just the prelude of the next two I will publish soon repaired the laptop, but I'm just editing them...

Today we are thrilled to share a story posted by Pamela Williams, Managing Editor at Felt & Wire, one of our favorite resources for finding chic and stunning stationery. Pamela thought that Merci New York's readers would appreciate her recent story on Rosebrook Meyer {which you can find, in it's entirety here}. Be sure to visit Felt & Wire for more wonderful paper inspiration....
What would you do differently if you could do your wedding all over again? Thats the question Ashley Rosebrook and Maureen Meyer asked themselves when they set out to design their own wedding invitation line. The designers, who met at Aveda and have worked with brands like Vera Wang and Victorias Secret, found they were inspired not by traditional bridal magazines, but by bold, trend-setting editorial fashion design. Combining this aesthetic with the capabilities of todays state-of-the-art digital printing, Rosebrook Meyer was born.Erin invitation
When Ashley Rosebrook got married, she says she fell in love with a blush-colored 1930s vintage gown which she had tailored by a master pattern maker. Business partner Maureen Meyer chose to wear her mothers 1960s gown, restyled to suit her more modern aesthetic. So its not surprising that the wedding invitation suites they have created are as fresh, modern and individualistic as their personal styles. Three words you simply wont find in the Rosebrook Meyer lexicon: off the rack. The 28 designs, available exclusively at rosebrookmeyer.com, were created for fashion-forward couples who are seeking something completely new and unique.
Alison invitation
Ashley and Maureen, tell us about yourselves and your new wedding invitation line. We have a history of working in the fashion and beauty worlds and both worked for Esteé Lauders Aveda Corporation. Ashley designed and launched home collections for Vera Wang, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Gucci. Maureen worked for Victorias Secret Beauty and went on to build the branding for fashion startup Martin & Osa. Our work in these worlds has greatly influenced the aesthetics of Rosebrook Meyer. When researching the market, we were shocked by the lack of newness or inspiring options for brides. Though there were some companies doing beautiful invitations, the formats and papers all looked the same and most were letterpressed. We started to think of a wedding more as a fashion industry event or gallery opening. We wanted to create invitations that would inspire recipients and build excitement around the event.
June invitation
This is a wedding invitation with full-color photography? Yes, as we learned more about emerging digital print technologies, we realized we could do some really interesting, unique formats that are different from whats out there. For example: photographic printing; two-sided, double-thick paper-stock; and a variety of paper textures linen, eggshell and pearlized finishes. We also incorporated more traditional techniques, like duplexing, to make the invitations super thick. We created our Sensuous collection around this photographic capability. Our thinking was that these designs could set the floral theme for the entire wedding, so it all ties together.
Jaqueline Invitation
How do you design a wedding invitation to be consistent with the style of the event? Weddings are taking place in gallery spaces and lofts now, in addition to churches and gardens. We provide a variety of options so couples can find a look that truly coordinates with their event, as well as their styles and personalities. The traditional, letterpressed, centered-script invitation is not a one-size-fits-all option it simply doesnt work for a wedding that will take place in a modern space. We are encouraging brides to be consistent with the style of their event. Dont be afraid to be different!
Belle invitationWhere did your inspiration come from? Particularly because we live in New York City, we knew there are very stylish couples out there looking for more impactful ways to announce the most important day of their lives. We started by imagining what we would want if we could do it all over today. We pored through stacks of new and old fashion publications and were inspired by interesting, large-scale typography as well as the different personalities that live within fashion, from more classic and demure all the way to very edgy, couture collections. On a personal level, Ashley and I bring a mix of styles to the table. She tends toward antique/vintage and I toward modern/clean, as was evidenced at each of our weddings. That juxtaposition of new and old is the heart of our brand, as you can see in the styled photography which Ashley shot!
Sensuous mood board {mood board details are at article's end}
Sophisticated mood board
Avant-Garde mood board
How did you decide to name the invitations? Mia, Megan, Ellen, Eliza, Alison naming the invitations was our way of giving each one a personality. We went as far as to select dresses (none of which were traditional wedding gowns), flowers and china for most of them. We put together inspiration boards for each of our categories Sophisticated, Avant-garde, Glamorous, Classic and Sensuous that we used internally to make sure we were really channeling that particular style. We must admit they are gorgeous!
Mia invitation
Tell us about your approach to typography. No two invitations could ever look the same. Some companies use patterns and motifs to set their invitations apart; we use typography. We had a lot of fun playing with the type in an abstract, artful way using overlays, larger scales, deconstructing the type, etc. As we mentioned, we had both always been inspired by this typography as art tendency in fashion mags.
Katya invitation The print quality is incredible. How do you print your invitations? Our invitations are printed at Hennegan on an HP Indigo digital press. This technology has come so far in recent years! It is really the advancements in digital print technology and the papers made specifically for these machines that enabled us to create this business. And we needed the quality and attention to detail that Hennegan is known for to be in the luxury market. Tell us about the lusciously thick paper stocks youve chosen. We use Mohawk Superfine Eggshell and Via Linen. We had so much fun with the linen! It looks so modern in ultra-white. Both of these papers offer a level of luxury only recently available in digital print technology. And our envelopes are Superfine Eggshell 100 lb. text, so they feel quite premium. Ashley invitationHow did you arrive at the final ink color palette? We looked at colors in fashion and provided a range to give people options. We edited the full color palette for each suite in terms of what we think looks best as well as to yield the best print quality. Your sample kit is unique. Who should order one, what does it cost, and how does the process work? It is important to note that we exist solely online. This can be intimidating for brides, as they are used to being able to touch/feel the paper types and see the color palette in person. So we designed a sample kit that is available on our website for $15, including shipping. It arrives in 23 days and includes all the elements a bride would otherwise see in the store: paper options, color palette and print quality. Online shopping and networking is the way of the world now, and so we wanted to provide that convenience for brides. If a bride falls in love with three our four of the designs and wants to try them on like she might a gown, is that possible? Is there any way to preview the look? In cases like this, we typically speak directly with the bride first. In special instances, we will send the customer three sample layouts using their names. Megan invitationIf you had to choose just one design for yourself, which would you choose and why? This changes from day to day, as we love what we do. Today, Ashley would choose Megan {above} because she loves the mix of the large scale serif type with the ultramodern format. A bit of old and new, classic and modern. I also love the chocolate color. Maureen would choose Elena {below} because it is so unique. I love the interesting formats horizontal for the invite and square for the save-the-date and the incredibly clean and bold-but-elegant typography. I would probably do it in a soft black and design the whole wedding around that a chic mix of black, white, ivory and greys. Elena invitation Rosebrook Meyer offers sophisticated wedding invitations and related materials that use cutting-edge production methods, all available through the convenience of a seamless, online ordering system. Custom designs are available. All items in the line, with the exception of pearl papers and vellum overlays, are printed on Mohawk papers.

-------------------
I get this question about once a week, "What are the Best Video Setting For The Canon DSLR cameras".
So let me start off by eliminating two things you can take off the list. Those are aperture and ISO. Aperture, I really can't tell you what to set it on because it depends on the type of look you are going after. With a shallow depth of field or not.
And the other one is ISO. ISO is kind of there for exposure how how you are going to set the exposure. I will say you do not want go too far north of let's say 1600 especially on like the Canon T2i then it gets really noisy. Obviously you are going to need to use aperture along with the ISO to get the right exposure but at least it gets you in the ball park. Those two ingredients are taken off the list.
So the first I can tell you about what is on the list is shutter speed. Basically if you are going for a "filmic" look you are pretty much going to double your frame rate, so if you are shooting 24 frames per second you are going to want a 1/50th of a second shutter speed and if you are shooting at 60 frames per second you are going to go with 125th frames per second shutter speed. Now I will tell you it's just kind of a guideline and a rule but I have shot at much higher shutter speeds and it has worked wonderful, especially if you are shooting something like myself which is just basically a moving head.
If you just getting your feet wet with your camera I think the best setting for Picture styles is Standard. I use it 90% of the time. If you are outside filming some landscapes for instance then you might want to try Landscape, and if you are using a close in portrait shot you might want to try Portrait picture style. After you have had the camera for a while and you want to take it to the next level, you might want to create a very flat picture style so you can have more control over color, sharpness and saturation in post.
As for White Balance, the best setting by far is always going to be custom. This is where you get the perfect color temperature for your shot. This is best way to do it, but it is also unfortunately the most time consuming.
The best setting for focus is to set it on quick focus and focus to one of the many points within the view finder. This is just my personal favor way to do this, I am sure others might disagree me but I got really accurate and fast results using this method.
Disable your AGC to get this cleanest audio, AGC is automatic gain control. I use a hack method for this, but there are many other ways to do this as well like a buying a Juicelink box or a software hack if you are brave enough to install it on your camera.
Set Movie Exposure to Manual, this is the best way to go by not letting the camera to decide for you.
Grid display to Grid 1, this helps me with my composition just right.
Disable Highlight Tone Priority, I have done many tests with this and found it best just to leave it off.
Auto Lighting Optimizer is set to standard. Again I have done a lot of tests with this and I find that this setting not only helps my portrait photos but it even helps when I do video interviews if the lighting is not quite even on the person's face.
That is about it for the best settings you can use on your Canon DSLR for video. Thanks for watching and thanks to Darren for letting me do a guest post again.

I came across the glitttery and glamorous wares of CandyBand Accessories during Fashion's Night Out last month and immediately snatched up one of their headband/belt pieces for an upcoming Roaring Twenties themed charity event. However, it wasn't until I visited their {tres fun} site that I connected with partners Sarah and Adina about their expanding bridal collection. It's so retro and feminine; I adore it.
These are only a few of their bridal items... Above, the Aviva bridal headpiece is $179; while below the Talia headpiece is $128 {and my personal favorite}.
How did CandyBand begin? With Adina's design background and Sarah's experience on the business end of the textile trade, the ladies took their line to one of Henri Bendel's "Open-Sees" {fashion's equivalent of an open casting call}, and quickly won over buyers to achieve prime space on their famed accessories veranda.
CandyBand accessories are also available locally at Bergdorf Goodman, and are often seen gracing the crown of many a celebrity {check out their cute press page as well}. Photos courtesy of CandyBand Accessories.

In August of 1964, the Beatles played at the Forest Hills stadium in New York and stayed at the fancy Delmonico Hotel on Park Avenue.
When they arrived at the hotel, Ringo was mobbed in the lobby and not only had his shirt torn off, but also his beloved St. Christopher's medal.
In this video, Beatle fan Angie McGowan returns the medal to Ringo and all's back to "normal" with the Fab Four. Cousin Brucie and Scott Muni from WABC Radio do a live broadcast of this and you can hear the screams from the fans outside the building! Paul McCartney pays a surprise visit.

For those of us living in Manhattan, coming down after the eyes-glazed-over registry gun high is akin to a bad champagne hangover. C'est magnifique! you dreamily thought only moments prior, imagining the massive wine fridge that will {clearly} sit neatly next to your {future} Sub-Zero fridge and match the patina of your {visionary}Viking range. However, now at home, you somberly give up said wine fridge's space for a place to fit, say, the trash can. And you rationalize: Ah well, I only chill whites anyway, right? Wrong! According to the October issue of Bon Appetit magazine, most reds should be carefully chilled as well, making that wine fridge quite an important purchase on your registry, for now and the future. Consider that most reds are best enjoyed at temperatures ranging from 55-65 degrees, but average room temperature is about 70 degrees. Serving wines too warm will emphasize the alcohol rather than the flavor and aroma nuances.
However, if the wine fridge absolutely cannot squeeze into your space, here's a little "red wine rule of thumb" from us at Merci:
Lighter reds {Pinor Noir, Beaujolais}- chill one hour
Medium bodied reds {Rioja, Chanti}- chill 45 minutes

We're back for part two of Rachel and Glenn's ceremony and reception at the illustrious Angel Orensanz. Built in 1849 on a quiet Lower East Side street, this striking Gothic synagogue was modeled after the Cathedral in Cologne and has become one of New York City's most desirable venues {its popularity grew immensely after Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were married there in 1997}. The venue's mix of old and new was the perfect stage for Rachel and Glenn; it was important for them to have a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony - and also a contemporary fun-filled celebration with family and friends. Editor's note: All vendor details can be found on part one of Rachel and Glenn's wedding.
From the bride: Glenn and I met at the 27th birthday of our mutual friend at a bar that no longer exists, called "6's and 8's." We were introduced early in the night by another friend who told me I HAD to hang out with this guy... which I did all night. We ended up on a brownstone stoop at four am eating falafel and flirting some more. Glenn took me out dancing a few days later... and we've been together ever since. We got engaged on December 30th of 2008 - just in time to bring in the new year!"

When Merci New York creates macaron towers for any project or occasion, we always flock to Macaron de Paris for the best macarons the city has to offer. My friends Julie and Cecile create the most decadent goodies, in a host of beautiful colors and flavors, for the most discerning of New York's corporate clients {think Cartier, Valentino and Van Cleef & Arpels, just to name a few}.... Macaron de Paris is beyond amazing and an absolute pleasure to work with. Last month, the ladies baked a beautiful assortment of macarons for one of my dessert tables, and we thought it would be fun to share a DIY project on how to create your own. Whitney from Oh, Darling! took some step-by-step shots, and we showed that these trendy little towers are truly not that daunting to create.... But, we're not showing it here. Project Wedding was excited about our idea, and is featuring the story live on their site today. So check it out and let me know what you think!

The first question we had in planning our destination wedding was whether the marriage would be legally recognized in the United States.
The U.S. State Department actually has a website for U.S. citizens interested in getting married in a foreign country.
You need to follow the legal procedures of the country where you will be married. Most countries have residency requirements (the length of time before the wedding you need to be in the country). In the Bahamas, the residency requirement was one day. However, Tahiti has a residency requirement of 30 days, essentially eliminating it as a potential location for destination weddings.
You will need to produce legal documentation (usually your passports), but could also include birth certificates, death certificates (widow/widower) and/or divorce decrees. Since this was the first marriage for both us, we only needed our passports and copies of our birth certificates. In the Bahamas, we also needed to go through a brief interview with a local official (about 10 minutes). We did not need to do a blood test, which can be a major issue for some people getting married in some countries (including Mexico).
The other major issue that people encounter is getting their marriage certificates/licenses translated into English (which is required for your marriage to be legal in the U.S.). The official language of the Bahamas was English, so we did not have any troubles. We wisely obtained multiple notarized copies of our license, which came in handy when we got home. We needed extra copies of the license for the name change.
Destination weddings can introduce some additional hopes you might need to jump through with respect to legal issues, but it is not a major problem.

Title: (April 2009) - CNN Interview on behalf of the Association for Airline Passenger Rights
AAPR Blasts United Airlines Decision to Discriminate Against People of Size; New Policy Charges Overweight Passengers for Two Tickets
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 17, 2009) - The Association for Airline Passenger Rights (AAPR) today blasted the decision by United Airlines to violate the Civil Rights of people of size by charging them for two tickets if they are deemed to be overweight. United Airlines announced that its ticket agents will begin denying boarding passes to people of size if they are "unable to comfortably fasten a safety belt with one extension or sit comfortably with armrests down," unless they purchase a second ticket.
"They're at it again," said Brandon M. Macsata, Executive Director of the Association for Airline Passenger Rights, of the airline industry. "United is now the latest airline to shelve customer service standards in search for higher profits, while claiming that the new policy is to 'protect' other passengers. At issue should not be the size of any passenger, but rather why the airlines continue to pack coach passengers like sardenes into the cabin."
Most coach airline seats are smaller than seats on buses or trains, even movie theaters - yet unlike in those environments, customers cannot simply get up and move around but are rather forced to sit
uncomfortably until the flight's destination is reached.
Macsata further argued, "Where does this madness end? So now a customer who purchases an advanced ticket online can show up at the airport and arbitrarily denied boarding because a ticket agent deems him or her to be overweight? He or she would be at the mercy of the airlines - an unthinkable scenario especially if the passenger is traveling for a family emergency or death in the family. I wonder just how much will be the price of that second ticket?"
AAPR also questioned the legality of the discriminatory policy and whether it violates the Air Carrier Access Act governing the treatment of passengers with disabilities. It is documented that certain health conditions, and sometimes medications, can cause weight gain and therefore should be protected by law. The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) addressed this issue earlier this year, when it issued its "one-person, one-fare" ruling covering passengers with disabilities - including "clinically obese" passengers who cannot fit into a single seat.
United Airlines joins Southwest Airlines aggressively discriminating people of size.
The Association for Airline Passenger Rights is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote fairer customer service and accessibility standards in the airline industry and to
improve passenger satisfaction. AAPR was formed in response to growing dissatisfaction among American consumers toward the airline industry.

Title: 599 - TRL - MILAN PALERMO THE RETURN
Turi Arcangelo Leofonte, (Giancarlo Giannini) bookkeeper to the Mafia, whose collaboration with the courts caused the arrests of almost the entire Scalia clan, has served his eleven year sentence in a maximum security prison and is preparing to leave for his final destination abroad, a free man with a new identity.
Old Scalia has died in prison. His son Rocco (Enrico Lo Verso) learns of Leofonte's imminent release from a mole inside the Ministry, and puts together a plan to force him to return his father's money, scattered in tax havens across the globe.
Rocco Scalia belongs to the new Mafia, the one whose assets are listed on the Stock Exchange, and he manages its numerous companies in apparently total legality. He is an educated, cultured man who loves luxury and elegance.
Two members of the original squad which escorted Leofonte to Milan to testify against the Scalia mob are back: Deputy Assistant Commissioner Nino Di Venanzio (Raoul Bova) and Chief Inspector Remo Matteotti (Ricky Memphis). Good friends, they are working together again only because Turi Arcangelo Leofonte is to be released from prison.
Chiara Leofonte (Turi's daughter) has married and had two children, one of them slightly autistic. Her husband was killed in a shoot out and she has lived alone in Milan for three years.
Before leaving on the assignment, Remo Matteotti has to sort out his fourth child, his 'adoptive' son Libero Proietti (Libero De Rienzo). Libero is the brother of Tarcisio Proietti (Valerio Mastandrea), who was killed eleven years earlier during the first escort operation. Remo, a close friend of Tarcisio's, keeps an eye on the young man and tries to curb his exuberance. Libero joined the police force against Remo's wishes, out of a desire to emulate his brother. He is as wild and reckless as Tarciso (Valerio Mastandrea) was shy and apprehensive. Libero would give anything to be part of the squad but Remo will do all he can to thwart him.
The squad has two other members, Inspector Elda Fiore (Gabriella Pession) and Inspector Giorgio Ceccarelli (Simone Corrente), a married couple with serious problems. Elda is a computer expert who surfs the net like a real hacker. Giorgio is not originally part of the team but replaces another officer at the last moment, to the surprise of all concerned, especially Elda.
From here on an authentic apocalypse of interrelated events explodes, canceling the word 'predictable' from the dictionary. This saga of old and new Mafia's in the age of Internet - part road movie, part action drama - has nothing to do with politically committed cinema. This is not a film about the Mafia, but an imaginary tale focused on individuals and their stories, sentiments, loves, jealousies and fears.
Ancient grudges, misunderstandings, torment and dramas from the past will all be resolved in the course of a terrifying, spectacular, heart-pounding journey. 'True' stories of men and women who never think of themselves as heroes, even when they are risking their lives.
