Summer Inspiration | Dewdrop Designs by Gillian Stevens

So it seems the universe really wants me to go on vacation. My inbox has become a goldmine of pretty little gems for the jet-set... and since every submission is more gorgeous than the next- I'm just going to succumb {and spend the next week beachside in New England}!
For the remainder of the week, Merci New York will be sharing getaway-bound inspiration. First up: stylish recycled luxury leather goods from Gillian at Dewdrop Designs.Really, can Gillian's gorgeous designs get any more beach-chic?
From bridesmaid gifts to summer self-indulgences, the whole Dewdrop line is pretty posh {and very versatile}. Gillian's cuffs just epitomize relaxed cool, and her tiny travel journals are to die for.
And while they certainly double as great guest books, I'm already dreaming of carrying one of her pretty little notebooks to the beach. The pages are hand stitched to the leather using natural beeswax and linen bookbinding and open flat so you can draw {and daydream} all the way into the margins.

Our Story

We’ve had a number of e-mails lately asking about our inspiration and motivation for doing this blog. This blog is really for you – the future brides and grooms who are interested in destination weddings.

Several years ago, we were planning our own destination wedding and were disappointed in the resources that were out there. We spent hundreds of hours trolling The Knot message board and other websites trying to get ideas. We wished we had a coach or mentor to walk us through the process. With that in mind, we started the Ultimate Destination Weddings blog to be your coach.

It started simply. We were the first in our social circle to get married. We found ourselves spending a lot of time going through our thought process with friends or answering their questions. This blog became a way to disseminate information to them in an easy-to-use format. Somewhere along the way, it caught on and we now get a few hundred visitors a day. We don't try to be all things to all people. We just try to offer good, solid, unbiased advice on planning destination weddings.

We are definitely NOT wedding coordinators. It's funny, last week, a woman named Stacey in Maine wrote and wanted to hire us to plan her destination wedding in Jamaica. We are flattered, but we have jobs and this is a just a hobby for us.

We aren’t paid to do this. And we rarely recommend specific vendors and don't keep preferred vendor lists (we've thought about it, but don't think it's for us). If we recommend someone and it goes bad for a couple, we lose our credibility. We only recommend people we really have faith in. We don’t shill for anyone and aren’t paid to do this. We do Ultimate Destination Weddings because we love it.

We hope you enjoy the blog and find it useful in planning your wedding.

Back from the B-List | Out-of-Town Guest Gift Idea

Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop a quick post to chat about this weekend's fabulous experience at the B-List wedding blogger conference in Washington DC and Old Town Alexandria. I'm sure you've already seen a few bloggers wax poetic about the great time we had, courtesy of Anne and Vane, as well as our local hosts Maria and Kelly of Ritzy Bee. Of course, I will be sharing more details {very} soon, but I wanted to take a moment to share a cute idea, courtesy of our wonderfully generous and fabulously creative sponsors...
Here's a detail that translates wonderfully into out-of-town guest gift and welcome basket design... Our {too-cute} lunch on Saturday was provided by Design Cuisine. The picnic style theme included sandwiches wrapped up in wax paper, B-shaped sugar cookies, old fashioned root beer local to Old Town Alexandria and {wait for it}... darling cloth napkins with the phrase "love at first bite" embroidered in blue. Really, it oozed cuteness. The soft geo-print boxes were courtesy of Smock. The concept is so simple, yet so thoughtful, and the photo box size guarantees reuse!
There are still many generous gifts and products I've yet to sift through, but as I do, you know I will be sharing! Here's a shot of our all-too-generous gift bag with wonderful goodies from great companies! Angela and Scott

This is truly a story of love meant to be...Angela and Scott dated in college and went their separate ways. Years later, they found each other at an event. Their fire re-kindled and now, they are married! A lot of tears were shed on this weekend as the two of them walked down the aisle. They were also brave, as we all ran around town in the rain to get pictures.

Scott contacted us with an idea--to have their wedding highlight movie shown at a sendoff party, which was held the day after their wedding. Delack Media Group assembled this next day edit wedding movie, which brought many at that sendoff party to tears.

The wedding took place at First United Methodist Church Chicago Temple. The reception was held in the atrium at Pazzo's Three-Eleven in the 311 South Wacker building. Wedding coordination done by Erin Feldmann at Chicago Wedding Bliss (Erin_Feldmann@hotmail.com) 618-550-9208.

How to Make a Macaron Tower | Wedding DIY

When Merci New York creates macaron towers for any project or occasion, we always flock to Macaron de Paris for the best macarons the city has to offer. My friends Julie and Cecile create the most decadent goodies, in a host of beautiful colors and flavors, for the most discerning of New York's corporate clients {think Cartier, Valentino and Van Cleef & Arpels, just to name a few}.... Macaron de Paris is beyond amazing and an absolute pleasure to work with.
Last month, the ladies baked a beautiful assortment of macarons for one of my dessert tables, and we thought it would be fun to share a DIY project on how to create your own. Whitney from Oh, Darling! took some step-by-step shots, and we showed that these trendy little towers are truly not that daunting to create....
