Yes, invitations set the tone for any soiree, but it's often hard to find a pre-designed suite that captures all the elements of your wedding, or a custom designer who can create something cohesive and all-out fabulous. In such situations, we always turn to Lela New York, a Manhattan-based couture studio specializing in some of the prettiest silk boxed sets, hand drawn illustrations, watercolor paintings and luxurious letterpress finishing we have ever seen... Creative Director Maria Cerff has become a mainstay in the Manhattan event business, having designed couture invitations for many opulent weddings and social affairs. Below, the young bespoke designer chats with Merci about all things Lela- from product, to studio space, to daily inspirations- and gives us a glimpse of her luxe, opulent aesthetic.
How does living and working in New York influence your work? I love how clients from all over the world come and visit me at the studio. Every one of them has a different story to tell and I try to incorporate that into their luxury invitations and stationery. It truly is what inspires me to create different designs every time.
What do you like most about the New York City wedding industry? I must say that the New York wedding industry has really some of the best in the business and am very proud to be among such talented pros... And now with all the social media out there, I get to interact with so many of them. Love that! How does your studio convey your professional aesthetic? When designing the Lela New York studio, I wanted to convey a feeling of a fun, creative space, which would give an uplifting feeling when you walked into it. I mixed both modern design aesthetics with antique patterns. For example, I mixed floating glass table tops and lucite chairs with pink and silver damask patterns. It's fun and I think clients like seeing my creativity extend past the designs. What keeps you inspired day-to-day? I love my pink walls! They warm up the design studio with a soft glow. It keeps me upbeat all day long. I also like keeping recent work out; it inspires me to move forward with my design.
If you could wish for one thing to help your business, what would it be? I would wish to have my printer move next door, although I don't think he would like that very much!
The Lela New York studio is located in midtown and open by appointment only. Be sure to check out the Lela New York portfolio and blog for more of Maria's fabulous work.

Title: Coco Chanel: What it feels like to wear her clothes by Justine Picardie
Read the new biography now https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coco-Chanel-Legend-Justine-Picardie/dp/0007317611/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1284987525&sr=1-1
Justine Picardie has spent the last decade puzzling over the truth about Coco Chanel, attempting to peel away the accretions of romance and lies. In this full-scale biography we finally discover the history of the incredible woman who created the way we look now. Coco Chanel was an extraordinary inventor - she conjured up the little black dress, bobbed hair, trousers for women, contemporary chic, best-selling perfumes, and the most successful fashion brand of all time - but she also invented herself, fashioning the myth of her own life with the same dexterity as her couture. While Chanel was supreme innovator and vendor of all things elegant and beautiful, what lies beneath her own glossy myth is darker. In this book, Justine Picardie brings the mysterious Gabrielle Chanel out of hiding, to celebrate her great achievements, at the same time as casting a clear eye over her transgressions. She examines Chanel's enduring afterlife, as well as her remarkable life, uncovering the consequences of what she covered up, unpicking the seams between truth and legend, yet keeping intact the real fabric of her past.
Title: All good festival 2010 - vintage chic
This is us stealing the shade from a single beer keg vendor. Along comes a super rad chic with a guitar. I say screw the hula hoops - dance with your guitar like this lovely lady. This was during the performance from Lee Boys.
Back by popular demand, we are excited to reintroduce our Chic Vendor Spotlight posts, showcasing some of our favorite vendors, artists and designers across New York City. Today, we're featuring the lovely Lion in the Sun. The landmark Park Slope paperie is responsible for creating some of the most beautiful city-centric invitations and paper goods in New York, making them a go-to resource for many Manhattan brides. For close to ten years, city brides have trusted Lion in the Sun to provide gorgeous stationery that creates a perfect first impression of their wedding. While known for their iconic New York-inspired work, Lion in the Sun also creates a myriad of other designs, from the very simple and modern, to the most ornate and elegant. Merci New York was thrilled to chat with owner Melinda Morris about the development and philosophy of Lion in the Sun and share some of their gorgeous work with our readers...
So, tell us about yourself! As a child, I worked at the original Lion in the Sun in Huntington, Long Island for my parents {which I affectionately recall as slave labor}. Then, after a career as an event planner, I decided to open my own store that specializes in printed invitations because I wanted to be in a business that revolves around happy occasions. That store is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, my home since 1996. And it is in that store that I met my future husband, David, who lived around the corner.
David and I love being a part of the community and have a passion for and pride in the work we do. We know that when you visit the store to place a printing order, it is our responsibility as experts to guide you through the multiple options in terms of products available, customizations, appropriate wording, etc., to make sure the you are delighted not just with your order, but with your experience as well. Additionally, while our store reflects a deep appreciation for fine paper products, we also are respectful of our place on the planet and have been actively seeking out quality recycled paper goods.
What inspired the creation of your brand? I opened Lion in the Sun with the idea to create a paperie with beautiful cards, gifts and wrap and custom invitation studio atmosphere -- with a low-key, laid back, no-stress, no pretension atmosphere and a focus on local artisan and designers.
What makes Lion in the Sun unique? For the custom invitations, we try very hard to never say No, you cant do that or We cant do it on a small budget. We believe that every wedding is important and special whether they have $500 or $5,000 dollars, and we make sure that everyone feels that we can help them achieve their vision for their wedding invitations. I love the idea of being able to do almost anything. Our inspiration comes from our clients; they come to us with the greatest ideas. We also do a lot of design that is inspired by New York City and our city-centric surrounding, including the locations where our clients are getting married. I think we are unique in the market in that we offer affordable options and custom design along with our experience in event planning and etiquette all in one package.
When did you decide to begin Lion in the Sun? As cliché as it sounds... In September of 2001, the combination of turning 30 and 9/11 {which happened in the same week} really shocked me into pursuing what I really wanted. I realized that my parents business {the original Lion in the Sun based in Long Island - still going strong} was a great model, and I remembered what I had always loved about the biz is that you get to work with people celebrating happy moments, and lend a meaningful experience to their important events! Most importantly, I realized that my neighborhood had nothing like it. It was brimming with young couples with new babies and growing families - and nowhere to buy beautiful paper. Additionally, I know so many wonderful designers right here in Brooklyn that I wanted to offer a place to showcase their work. So within 6 months I had quit my well-paying job, had begun renovations and was sourcing vendors for my own paperie.
What do you like most about your job? I am so lucky to do what I do. Just about every day we get to hear happy stories of love, new babies and family celebrations. We get to help guide them through the process that can be scary, stressful and expensive. It is rewarding to see them come out happy on the other side. My favorite {and seemingly most helpful} thing we tell all our clients is "Relax, its just a party!
Brag to us a bit {we won't tell}... I am most proud of our great reputation and that our clients become family. We are proud to support our clients quirky, offbeat requests and revel in the successes of making their vision come to life. We are so grateful for their appreciation and the loyal customer base we have. We believe in being honest and supportive of our clients. We work hard to help people navigate a potentially overwhelming and stressful time, and instead, make it meaningful and fun for them. {We understand that sometimes its not just about the paper!}

Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop a quick post to chat about this weekend's fabulous experience at the B-List wedding blogger conference in Washington DC and Old Town Alexandria. I'm sure you've already seen a few bloggers wax poetic about the great time we had, courtesy of Anne and Vane, as well as our local hosts Maria and Kelly of Ritzy Bee. Of course, I will be sharing more details {very} soon, but I wanted to take a moment to share a cute idea, courtesy of our wonderfully generous and fabulously creative sponsors... Here's a detail that translates wonderfully into out-of-town guest gift and welcome basket design... Our {too-cute} lunch on Saturday was provided by Design Cuisine. The picnic style theme included sandwiches wrapped up in wax paper, B-shaped sugar cookies, old fashioned root beer local to Old Town Alexandria and {wait for it}... darling cloth napkins with the phrase "love at first bite" embroidered in blue. Really, it oozed cuteness. The soft geo-print boxes were courtesy of Smock. The concept is so simple, yet so thoughtful, and the photo box size guarantees reuse! There are still many generous gifts and products I've yet to sift through, but as I do, you know I will be sharing! Here's a shot of our all-too-generous gift bag with wonderful goodies from great companies! Many, many thanks to Chronicle Books, Smock, David Tutera, Palomas Nest, Rust Designs, Emersonmade, Wedgwood, Santa Barbara Preserves, Whisker Works, Footpetals, iomoi, Viv & Ingrid, Williams Sonoma, 9Spot Monk, Martha Stewart for Crane & Co., Delphine, Bridal Reflections, Sycamore Street Press, Flory Photo, Chewing the Cud, Envelopments, Scout Books, Pottery Barn, The Pink Initiative, Lo Boheme, Rembrandt, Simple Song Design and Thoughtful Day for all of our amazing treats! So that's just a sneak peek... be sure to check back on Thursday with more inspiring details from this weekend's festivities and events!

Back to the place where our story begins
Its Hogwarts, Howarts,
The Upper East Side was a-buzz last night as press, style casters and design luminaries flocked to the opening of J. Crew's posh bridal boutique on Madison Avenue. Guests perused two floors of gorgeous wedding gowns {priced $295-$3,500}, accessories, veils and jewelery, and ogled over the new 769 collection {an exclusive assortment of party dresses and accessories named after the boutique's location at 769 Madison Avenue}. Upon walking into the soiree, I had the pleasure of meeting Tracy Gardner, President of J. Crew, who enthusiastically discussed the store's development and their exclusive collection of vintage jewelry, which is truly to die for. Layered with the company's chic assortment of collection pieces {which Darcy Miller modeled throughout the evening}, the line also includes handmade exclusive pieces from famed jewelers, such as New York City-based Miriam Haskell. Truly stunning. And dangerously enticing for brides, maids and moms. The shelves circulating the French-inspired space are stocked with a rainbow of soft cashmere cardigans, polished clutches and glittery shoes, as well as seductively coquettish lingerie and perfect shades of pink Essie polish. Brides looking to add a decidedly couture touch to their look can snag exclusive Leah C. veils that would put SJP to shame. Truly, there was gorgeous eye candy from every vantage point; and as influencers such as Kate Spade, Aerin Lauder, and Robert Verde perused the racks with Jenna Lyons, the space was giddy with excitement and accolades. The store is not only stunning, it's a must-see resource for any city bride. But don't just take my word for it. There's another sure to be fabulous fete at the J Crew Bridal Boutique... and it's taking place tonight. Check out our events section for more details. Title: Sparrow Love Crew - Detroit Bar 1.8.07
Sparrow Love Crew opens The Colour & Delta Spirit's Monday Night residency at The Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, CA! 1.8.07
To celebrate a 5th birthday, at the Detroit Zoological Society, Metro Luxe Events Candice Vallone wanted to capture the true spirit of the day in the invitation.
Calling on the talents of Celeste Simpson of Impress Me Designs, a day at the Zoo Safari Passport invitation was the perfect mix of message and motivation to attend.
The inside of the passport booklet was printed on a natural desert colored paper and the corners of each page were individually rounded. To give the look and feel of a true passport. Impress Me Designs used natural elements and earth tone colors to mimic the feel and textures one might find on safari in Africa.
Each animal was accentuated by matching "flocked" papers outlining the borders of each page with patterns representative of the Zebra, Giraffe and Cheetah. Texture was an important element designed to bring each animal to life. The animals and details were printed in a dramatic black to jump out at you.
To bring more interest to the background, different passport destination stamps were subtly watermarked into the paper. No detail was overlooked. Even the return address had a rhinoceros making an appearance. The envelope was sent with a custom postage stamp designed to compliment the safari theme.

GameInside.de trift den US Rapper von G Unit bei seiner Europatour in Hamburg.
Tony Yayo (* 31. März 1978 in New York; eigentlich Marvin J. Bernard) ist ein amerikanischer Rapper. Zusammen mit 50 Cent und Lloyd Banks gründete er 1998 die Gruppe G Unit.
Biographie [Bearbeiten]
