For so many reasons, this was such a fun wedding to shoot. Meredith and Andy met while working at Walt Disney World in Florida. During their engagement, Andy forwarded the Delack Media Group website to Meredith. Moments later, we received a call from one of the happiest brides-to-be. Meredith wanted to fly us over to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where they planned on getting married. We love destination weddings-especially in warm climates! It was such a joy to see Andy and Meredith together. They are such a great couple.
Their families rented a beachside house and had the wedding ceremony just a short walk away on Hilton Heads popular Forest Beach. The Atlantic Ocean served as an amazing backdrop for this picturesque wedding.

Title: Eve Pearl Destination Wedding: Jamaica
Eve documented one of her Destination Weddings. This beautiful wedding takes place in Negril Jamaica, at the Caves Resort. The EVE PEARL Team can do it all: Makeup, Hair, Photo, Video, Editing...and much more. I love a happy and beautiful bride. The wedding lasted all day long. In the beautiful hot daylight sun into the sunset and all night long...and so did the makeup. It was a fantastic party.
Title: Frugal Destination Weddings
Antonia van der Meer, editor-in-chief of Modern Bride magazine explains to Julie Chen how to make a destination wedding look like celebrity chic but on a budget.
Funny how things happen sometimes. When we first peeked at Cara and Michael's photos on the Ciro Photography website, we were completely smitten with their wedding day. Of course, Cara looked absolutely beautiful. But there was something so glamorous {yet soft}, and modern {yet vintage} about her style. We immediately sent a note to her photographer, Rich, to learn more... and {voila!} found out that the bride in question was Cara Sullivan, deputy editor at Martha Stewart Weddings. Knowing that Cara not only planned a tres-beautiful wedding, but was also a seasoned beauty professional, we asked her to share some wedding day beauty tips alongside the gorgeous photos of her big day. We're beyond thrilled to share Cara and Michael's autumn wedding at the Angel Orensanz foundation with you. How would you describe your wedding style? Modern and romantic, but not in the traditional sense. We wanted it to feel like a dark, cozy fall night in New York City. It poured on the morning of the wedding, but I was actually really psyched about it. The gray skies made the reception feel warm and invitingit literally glowed. If we had wanted it to be bright and sunny, we wouldnt have chosen to get married in a Gothic cathedral in November! Do you have any advice for brides on pulling together their wedding day look with hair and makeup? Be sure to have at least one consultation. It may add to your overall budget, but its so worth it. You spend so much time and money perfecting what youre going to wear, but the hair and makeup are really what tie it all together.
Did you do your own wedding makeup? Yes! I wanted it to look clean, classic, and just a little bit retro. My inspiration was Angelina Jolies makeup at the 2007 Golden Globes: a glossy nude lip, black liner, major lashes, and glowing skin. Do you have any advice brides wanting to do their own makeup on their wedding day? Practice, practice, practice. Its not Friday night out with the girls, its your wedding day. Tear out pictures of makeup looks you like, map out a plan, and spend time mastering the techniques youre not so skilled at, whether its winged-out liquid liner, a red-lip that doesnt budge, or dewy skin that doesnt look cakey. And play around with products you may not normally wear, like individual false lashes and primer. In photos, they make a world of difference. Have a friend take pictures of the finished look with and without flash, and in and out of daylight so you can see how itll all come together on film. Another must? Test out all the products you plan on using well before the big day rolls around. I once heard of a bride who was late to her own wedding because shed had an allergic reaction to eyeliner shed bought that morning. What is your best advice for brides looking for a makeup artist? Ask for recommendations from your wedding planner, hair stylist, or friends whove recently tied the knot. Once youve gathered a few names, browse through their websites and ask to see photos of their recent work. If youre not into their style, dont bother scheduling a consultationthere are tons of other makeup artists in the sea. At the consultation, communicate your likes and dislikes as clearly as possible, bring lots of photos {you at your best, red carpet looks you love, etc}. Rather than showing up freshly scrubbed, wear your typical going out face. Its a great way to give your makeup artist an idea of your style. And if you dont like something, speak up! Thats what consultations are for. Requesting a different lipstick doesnt make you a diva. What was your wedding splurge? Why was it important to you? The venue. The first time we saw it, it literally took our breaths away. It was way out of our price range, but we cut back in other places to make it work. Im so glad we did. Two years later, our guests are still talking about how special it was.
What was your vision for the ceremony? The venue was super ornate, so I wanted the palette to be neutral. I went with antique gold bridesmaids dresses (to play off the gilded walls) and simple bouquets of ivory hydrangeas. I asked my florist to hang antique moss from the chandeliers, and the altar was backlit in pale gold. The only other light came from candles, and I remember it being really dark as I walked down the aisle. The drama queen in me really loved that part. Additional Style Ingredients: Flowers: Ariston Flowers Wedding dress: Junko Yoshioka Bridesmaids dresses: Jim Hjelm
Many thanks to Cara for sharing her gorgeous wedding and bridal beauty tips with Merci New York readers. Want more? Be sure to visit Martha Stewart Weddings to learn more about how Cara documented her big day with DIY details.

A True American Hero, a phrase that is overused but I believe very proper in this case.
Ah Hermès, you're just too cute. Granted, I've yet to get my hands on one of your Birkin bags, but I've long since fallen in love with your bangles and baubles {as an indulgent consolation prize, of course}. So with that said, I truly didn't need another reason to love you {or crave more}. But then your darling Spring campaign fell right at my fingertips... and the artwork is just as whimsical and fun as the jewelry. And now, you've got me again.
{Readers, take a look!} Darling, right? Granted, I know you're not about to wear these on your wedding day, but that's not to say they won't make {generous} gifts... or be the perfect accompaniment to your {honeymoon, shower, rehearsal dinner} wardrobe.

Title: Paris: Hermes Spring-Summer 2010 Mens
ELSEWHERE among the menswear shows the trend for travel has been particularly strong, but at Hermes the suggestion was subtle and sophisticated. Country-suitable suits were given a touch of bohemian styling with natty ties and scarves, and moccasins. Brown and royal blue was the colour combination to note.
Now I know this isn't {really} a fashion site. And it's certainly not a men's site. But sometimes I just love getting great scoop. As in, delivered to my inbox, delicious scoop that I can share with readers and pass along to my husband {before he starts sending me Barstool Sports clips all day}. And this is just that sort of stuff. I woke this morning to a note from our friends at Net-a-Porter, {who we l-u-v for their fabulously edited womens offerings, as well as their tres-chic bridal boutique}. Scoop is, the London-based company is about to debut MR PORTER, a dedicated menswear shop with the same chic editorial voice as their sister site. MR PORTER will launch for the Spring/Summer 2011 season in January, offering an edited mix of approximately 60 brands, from global designer labels to niche specialists {think Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, YSL, Dunhill and John Lobb, just to name a few}. And funny enough, while Net-a-Porter seems eager to welcome more male shoppers to their brand, they're smartly banking on their fashionista following to spearhead sales. "{While} we look forward to welcoming a new group of super stylish men who will shop for themselves," spokeperson Natalie Massenet began, "Three million unique users trust and love Net-a-Porters service and will be invited to make a purchase for the men in their lives." Hm, looks like she has me pegged. And with same day delivery service Manhattan, I'm banking that a bunch of grooms, grads, dads and husbands around the city are about to become a bit more dapper.

I've always been enamored by the famed French patisserie Ladurée. Their signature celadon packaging is just to die for, and their creamy ganache-filled macarons are so heavenly, it's no wonder Monique Lhuillier designed an entire collection around them. With that in mind, I thought a little ode to Laduréewas overdue.

Recently, I was fortunate to share a wonderful lunch and tour of the Crosby Street Hotel with an intimate group of wedding professionals. Needless to say, the company was wonderful, and the venue was so striking, I couldn't wait to share these images with you. The "Spring" room is one of three private event spaces at the hotel {and my favorite for chic rehearsal dinners}. The space is so perfectly designed, only a few simple flowers and candles are needed to personalize an event.A "Crosby Suite." High ceilings and full length windows with spectacular views of downtown New York make these high line suites perfect for pre-wedding pampering. Paparazzi take note: This one overlook's Kelly Ripa's {shrub-obstructed} abode. The lobby is dominated by soaring glass windows and a dramatic 10 foot high Jaume Plensa steel sculpture of a human head created from letters of the alphabet. How's that for editorial? The Crosby Bar is a vast space with a long pewter bar and a multitude of colorful 50's ceiling lights. It's perfectly upbeat and wildly colorful.Okay, I know you all understand where Soho is, but I just had to throw this in. Really, I die! How cute is this illustration from the hotel's designers?
The Crosby Street Hotel is situated in the heart of Soho between Spring and Prince Streets. As the first stateside outpost from London-based Firmdale Hotels, owner-designer Kit Kemp maintains a fresh, contemporary and sometimes quirky look throughout the hotel's 86 individually designed rooms. Her emphasis on color, texture and unique art truly makes the Crosby Hotel a perfect locale for any wedding-related fete.
{Many thanks to PR-maven Lisa Barr for coordinating such a wonderful afternoon. It was a pleasure to chat with some of New York City's leading wedding professionals, and also meet Montreal's lovely ladies}!
