I'm one of those creative type-A personalities that awakes with an idea at 4 am and stirs for hours just thinking about the details. For example, last night I found myself in deep thought about the below Vargas Girl print. It's been hanging in my powder room for months, but suddenly I was intrigued by the playfulness of her coquette-like pink corset and black satin bow. Before long it inspired this "feminine meets film noir" inspiration board of soft blush and bold black for the retro-glamorous bride. It's funny because I often tell brides who are struggling with their wedding style or colors to buy a pocket journal and jot down things that inspire them throughout the day. Most times their personal style is hiding all around them in the things they've collected, purchased or surrounded themselves with. Well, if this isn't testament to my own words, I'm not sure what is. Hope you enjoy!

It is an architectural cake that was invented in early 1800s and became the favorite dessert of the French Kings’ Court. It is originally made of little round pastries called “choux” stuffed with flavoured cream, built up into a pyramid-shape. With time, French pastry cooks have invented countless shapes and flavors for Pièce Montée, and the concept has expanded into hundreds of creative, personalized options. Once macarons became trendy in France, some famed pastry cooks started to create “Macaron Towers” in lieu of “choux,” further developing Pièce Montée into the popular focal point of the stateside dessert table. But so much has been lost in this concept, and there are many other creative shapes, ideas and options that you may not know are available. Lenôtre, a prestigious French caterer known as the ambassador of French cuisine, has also developed a presence in the States, offering a scale of sumptuous Pièces Montées for every taste -- from the traditional “choux”, to the Macaron Tower, and countless concepts in between. They are both a delight for the eye as well as for your mouth, and certainly add an unexpected embellishment to your wedding! While Lenôtre has currently expanded to the West Coast, New York girls can certainly bring their unique and creative designs to reputable French pastry shops in Manhattan {think Payard, Bouchon or Ceci-Cela} for inspiration. I’m sure they would also create a gorgeous masterpiece that will add a touch of French charm to your wedding!

"Gilt Groupe is going to be one of the fastest-growing Internet companies that has ever happened," predicts Kevin Ryan, CEO of New York incubator AlleyCorp, which owns the e-commerce fashion site.
"We'll do tens of millions of dollars in revenue this year," says Ryan of Gilt Groupe, which is like an online version of the designer sample sales New Yorkers love for their exclusivity almost as much as for their discounted prices.
"I used to walk by 18th Street and see 200 women waiting in line," recalls Ryan, who is the former CEO of DoubleClick Inc. "I asked them, 'What are you waiting for?,' and they said, 'Oh, the Marc Jacobs sample sale.' And I thought, 'That's great, but why can't I do that online, and people from Philadelphia or Westchester or many other places could take advantage of that?' "
"We're taking the burden of schlepping to a sample sale at odd hours of the day, and we're bringing the phenomenon online, not just to New Yorkers but to all of America," explains Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder and chief merchandising officer of Gilt Groupe, which secured $5 million from Matrix Partners last year.
The invitation-only site features limited-time sales of clothing and accessories created by a wide range of designers, from the established Ralph Lauren to Band of Outsiders' hip newcomer Scott Sternberg. The company buys all the merchandise it sells and photographs it all especially for the site.
Gilt Groupe got a new chief executive on Monday. Susan Lyne, the former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, is replacing co-founder Alexis Maybank in the CEO role. Maybank is taking on the chief strategist title.
Gilt Groupe is one of half a dozen technology startups founded and seeded by Ryan and AlleyCorp chairman Dwight Merriman, who as co-founder of DoubleClick was the online ad firm's chief technologist. Perfection. Pure and simple. How can you go wrong? {Answer: You can't}. The Tsar 140 Satin Pumps from Christian Louboutin would have been the answer to my wedding shoe prayers {if I hadn't scoured NYC for a one-off sample pair of Valentino d'Orsay pumps... which I found, thank you very much}. How divine is this invitation suite by Laura of Orange Beautiful? Laura designed it for her sister's wedding at the Parker Palm Springs and wanted the suite to convey the venue's unique design aesthetic. "The hotel's retro-luxe vibe {courtesy of Jonathan Adler} combines wild colors with desert-y whites and tans, layered with multiple patterns and textures," Laura said. We're completely over-the-moon for the chevron marbled paper and makeup-y peach tones... In fact, we want to host a little soiree just to use this suite! Party at the Merci New York studio, anyone?!

I've long adored the gorgeous gowns and ethereal designs of Badgley Mischka, so needless to say, I was beyond thrilled to attend their Spring 2011 show yesterday... Coming from the fashion world, it was great to get back in the swing of the season, but having transitioned into the wedding industry, it was wonderful to see some truly stunning bridal inspiration via their Collection, Couture and Mark + James looks...
From the wonderfully textured, to the short and sultry, to the softly draped and simply stated, the Badgley Mischka runway ran the gamut and touched upon a variety of bridal looks. I actually have a tough time picking a favorite... which is yours?

I am a firm believer that jewelry really defines one's personal style. {For example, I never feel complete without throwing on at least two or three necklaces and a great ring}. All Kacey K pieces are meant to be worn in layers. Every necklace is adjustable and can be ordered in a custom size, so our customers have the opportunity to add to their collection over time.
Merci:Celebrities like Eva Longoria and Heather Locklear are big fans of your collection... How does it feel to have women of such celebrated style loving your designs? Kacey: Who wouldn’t want a movie star to wear their pieces? It is very important to connect with everybody. Stars can wear anything, so for them to choose Kacey K is great. At Eva Longoria’s wedding, we gave all 12 of her bridesmaids pieces as gifts - they adored them.
Merci:Where do you draw inspiration for your designs? Kacey: My inspirations are drawn from everyday life. Whether it's shopping in downtown New York or being with my daughter.... I find inspiration in the simple things in life!
