Fashion Toast | Engagement Shoot Inspiration

I'm currently loving these chic photos shot by Rumi {and Colin} at Fashion Toast during NYFW. Granted my mind was more focused on fashion-styling than weddings when I pulled them, but I am just obsessed with their rough city edge.
I'd love to style an engagement shoot with this vibe in mind. Any takers? We'll just hail a particularly dirty cab and take it from there...

Geetika + Amit

Three days of celebration, dancing, and culture ended with an amazing Same Day Edit. Geetika and Amit started their three-day wedding with a mehendi celebration at India House Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Schaumburg. Their second day was an engagement party at The Westin O'Hare. The third day was a culmination of pageantry with tons of color and family surrounding the couple at The Westin O'Hare. Wedding Favor Inspiration | love is a mix tape

Green Day on Broadway? Beyonce belting out Alanis covers? Though last night's Grammy's tried their best to make anyone in their late twenties feel old as dirt, I'm embracing the retro vibe this Valentine's Day. That's right, I'm all about the throwback.

Maybe my middle school won't be willing to send a candy-gram to my husband's office, but this little reconstructed match box from Flight of the Parcel might just do the trick. It slides open to reveal a personalized love note and can easily be tied to a Valentine's Day gift for added ooey-gooey impact. Ah, all the charm of a teenage love story {minus the bad hair, awkward moments and tacky clothes, of course}.

Perfection. Pure and simple. How can you go wrong? {Answer: You can't}.
The Tsar 140 Satin Pumps from Christian Louboutin would have been the answer to my wedding shoe prayers {if I hadn't scoured NYC for a one-off sample pair of Valentino d'Orsay pumps... which I found, thank you very much}. The lace detailing. The floral applique. The grosgrain ribbon trim and large silk white flower right at the peep toe... love.

Point is, these dainty little puppies would have made life that much easier.
And after all this wedding planning stress, you at least owe yourself that, don't you?

Dance Lessons

It’s your wedding and you want to put your best foot forward. It will be more fun for you and your guests if you feel really comfortable on the dance floor.

We are not big dancers, so we did not do dance lessons prior to our wedding. While we danced a little at our wedding, I think we would have danced more had we felt more comfortable.

As our friends have gone through the wedding process, many of them have opted for lessons. There is a proliferation of dance studios like the Fred Astaire Dance Studio and independent studios that can provide dance instruction at relatively reasonable rates. Make sure you tell your instructor about your destination wedding plans so you can receive instruction in local dances.

Dance lessons are one more thing for you to consider in your wedding planning process.

Yesterday we introduced readers to Oheka Castle, a striking historical venue on Long Island's famed "Gold Coast," the area of Gastby-esque mansions along the shore where the fabled stories of great authors liek F Scott Fitzgerald came alive... As a true city-girl, I will admit my only {non-Hamptons} experiences with Long Island have been driving through traffic on 495 {to get to said Hamptons}, and honestly, reading and loving Great Gatsby so much, that I literally have some lines memorized in my head.
So I suppose it's no coincidence {or just the fact that I love, love, love deco style}, that we came across these lovely little finds via Coco + Kelley today {Cassandra, you rock}. Apparently, Coralie Bickford-Smith, {the talented cover designer who dreamed up a flurry of those Anthro-esque vintage book jackets}, has decided to go glam.
How glam? Tres-chic, mega gilded, gold and bold glam.... Just check out her gorgeous deco-inspired covers for the entire F. Scott Fitzgerald collection. Truly, they rock so hard.
And I have to say I'm now even more excited to dive into Fitzgerald's books... on the jitney, through the traffic, and on my way out to those Hamptons.
